Got out and did 8 today. Felt really good. I always feel like crap the first 2 miles, after that I ease in and get my pace. It's those first 2 miles that I really just have to mentally get through and then I am fine. I met my mileage for this week. I was hoping to do a bit more but at least I met my weekly goal.
I am at 22 miles for this week.
I have to learn to stop comparing myself to other runners and be proud of what I accomplish. Every time I run, I think, "well, there are people who run 50 miles in day, this is nothing." But the truth is I am not an ultrarunner, nor do I aspire to be. But for whatever reason, I am always comparing myself to others. I am going to try really hard to stop doing that and be happy with who I am. That's what your 30's is supposed to be about anyway, right?
Get off your ass!

January 4th
The gym was packed today! I had to wait 15 minutes to get a treadmill so my run was cut short. Still managed to do 4.5. I ran it at a 8:30 pace and felt really good. It is amazing how hard we can push our bodies even when we are hungry and tired. I recently read a friend's blog who ran more than 2000 miles last year. That is so impressive and requires so much dedication. It really inspired me even more to reach this goal and maybe even surpass it. I figure if I throw a few more half marathons and 1 full in the mix, then I certainly can break 1000. We shall see! The thing with running is that it makes me feel so clear headed and full of life. I really don't think there is any other activity that I do that makes me feel more alive. It is good to feel alive.
On that note, I now want to feel asleep.

January 3rd
First day back at work.... getting up was harder than I thought it would be. Did not get to run today but did put in 35 minutes on the bike. Tomorrow I am going for 6 on the treadmill. I HATE treadmills but the likelihood of getting home from work while there is still adequate daylight is very slim. I signed up for the Screamin Snowman Snowshoe Race and the Platte River Half tonight. Should be fun! Time to hit the hay.

4.2 miles- 38 minutes
Not exactly a stellar pace but damn were those sidewalks icy! In order to make this goal I need to run at least 21 miles per week. Sounds easy but I know how much life can get in the way ( and my absolute love for lounging around). ;) My legs felt great today. I think spinning has really helped with that.

Day 1
So, it is a new year. I am not one for resolutions but I do like to make goals for myself. I usually center my goals around something active, usually running. Since running my first marathon, I have been slacking in the running department. It has been hard to get motivated lately. Maybe it is the winter season, maybe it is the ridiculous amount of food I have been eating the past month or so. Whatever the reason, I need to find my motivation again. I recently started trail running and that has sparked a new love for running I haven't felt before. I am a road runner but trail running is, by far, more challenging and freeing. I am not giving up the pavement but will definitely be incorporating more trail runs into my workouts. So, that leads me to my new goal for this year. Two friends are making similar goals and inspired me to attempt this. My goal for this wonderful year of 2011 is to run 1000 miles. Not to sound like a snob, but I know I can do this. It is not that lofty of a goal but since I am such an on again and off again runner, this will really keep me in line. So, I am off to run my first 4 or 5 miles of 2011. I plan to track my progress on this blog. I have never blogged before so this is weird to me but also a way for me to step into the 21st century. People who truly know me will be surprised if I actually keep this up! ;) Time to go put on my Saucony's and hit some pavement!
